[Boston—Wednesday, 25 May 1870]

May. 25. Call from Robert Collyer of Chicago in the morning. Mr. C.P. Cranch came to lunch and we took tea at Richard Dana’s.

All delightful. Mr. Cranch showed us Leigh Hunt’s poem of “The Inevitable”. Played in the garden with the children in the afternoon.
