Sunday afternoon. A short talk with Mrs Putnam about the necessity for a free Protestant church in France. In spite of the war, this work is the one Miss LeClerc never forgets. Undoubtedly could a free protestant church become powerful in France it would [do] no more to elevate the nation than all other efforts for every other end.
