[Manchester—Friday, 12 July 1872]

Friday. The weather is still warm, very very warm. The good Towne’s begin their friendly ministrations.

Over to the Bartols and they over to us—lovely rain, hours of reading and peace. Bobolinks, sparrows, robins, swallows, orioles—myriads of birds in short are singing all about us.
