[Manchester—Sunday, 16 August 1874]

Sunday—were all day looking for our architect who did not come after all. Jamie read Mr. Collyer’s excellent sermon “for Yeshua says so” to our neighbours.

Every night we read a passage in the Excursion before sleeping; and go to bed at half past nine. The weather is cold and we find it unsafe to use our very early mornings out of doors but usually we go out after an early breakfast.
