Wednesday. Rainy. This city is like New York for vastness—in plan—the residences are more beautiful because of spaces for light, air, and grass and trees between.

Jamie went to Aurora to lecture. Mr. Collyer went with him. William Clarke called and we passed a delightful evening. He brought Mrs Hooper’s poems.
