Monday—still summer. Dear J. goes to town. Called at Mrs Walter Cabots and talked housekeeping. Find with all her money she is obliged for lack of a cook who can attend to her business to give an anxious daily supervision in order to have her family kept in food and have a decent cleanliness preserved.
