[Manchester—Sunday, 17 September 1876]

Sep 17th Sunday. At home all day. The first this season. The September gale. John Gilbert sat with “J” a large part of the day. I finished “Mirain’s Life” and he an article for the Youth’s Companion. Then we read Guinivere and Mirain aloud in the evening. A day for us to remember. It was so cheerful together here enjoying each other, with the fire and our work.
