We have Paracelsus, by Robert Browning. It is a dramatic poem, constructed upon the model of “Philip Van Artevelde”; but the author says no. His composition is a poem, not a drama. Yet what we consider the finest passages in the poem are decidedly dramatic. We have not space to vindicate this dissenting opinion, but refer to the very beautiful and effective opening of a scene—A chamber in the house of Paracelsus at Basil. Time, 1526.
