At Drury Lane things have not been much more propitious, Mr. Macready having produced a play called A Blot in the ’Scutcheon, which certainly was a blot on morality and good taste, though the drama is clothed in language worthy of a purer plot. Miss Helen Faucit did all that could be done for a very equivocal and painful character; and the play was put upon the stage in a way that reflected much credit as to the liberality of the management. It has been played several nights, but can never become a favourite. A new farce, under the whimsical title of The Thumping Legacy, has met with deserved success.
