Addendum to The Brownings’ Correspondence, vol. 23.

It is acknowledged we believe, pretty universally, that the author of this volume is fairly entitled to a place among the very brightest poetical lights of the age. With a power of thought, and facility of expression, almost unequalled, she combines the most delicate perception of the beauties of nature and art, a rich tone of moral sentiment, and an uncommon depth and intensity of feeling. The present is the latest production of her pen, and, in her own judgment, at least, the best. One cannot read a page of it, without being sensible that he is in contact with an extraordinary genius.
