My dear S. Barrett
I am very sorry that we did not see you in your way to the dock side but we hope you have got thro’ your principal task without increasing your indisposition– I fear the excitement has been too much for you but I hope that change of air & scene will make you strong & that very soon– The costs of the removal have been very great much more than I expected but I trust your father will not only approve of all you have done but feel pleased with your anxiety to gratify his wishes– I shall write him by the next packet– I hope I shall receive a letter from you by Room saying how you got done– You have not given me Mr Cary’s address– I should write him before I go [to] Retreat & C. Hill in July– I shall be very glad to see him at either of those places– The Orbit is as yet [not] arrived so you will have more time than you expected–
I wrote Mr Kitchen & suppose I shall hear from him respecting Bloomsbury—before you leave the Bay you should arrange with some one to finish |Rebma’s| house & build the kitchen so that it may be in a fit state to offer to a tenant–
I haved desired Cater to send you some letters by the Capt. of the Orbit of introduction to persons at New York– I enclose you one Later one for Swinford– George will procure your ticket & send it to you– Will you let me have the name of the Dragger in which you have sent the chairs &c for otherwise they will be on the wharf & not be [illegible word]–

If there is anything I can do for you or your father whilst you are absent let me know it & it shall be attended to– I have written to Duncan Robertson & told him Mr Carey will pay his a/c for cattle– I have just recd a letter from Cater in which he says the Orbit has been sold & her place will be supplied by the Emily but that she will not be here before the 20th or 25th had you not therefore better come to us & embark here– Cater is going in her to the Havannah & will give you the letters for New York– I do not think the Emily will sail before the end of the first week in June–
