My dear Mr Boyd,

I hope you will not be angry with me,—but the Cliffes come to night, when Annie is engaged out, and I am to go to Westbourne to sleep there & entertain them this evening. I know you would not like to deprive such old friends of my very agreable society! No other circumstance shd have prevented me from going to you to day; but I know you will forgive me until next week, any day of which, that you will have me, I shall be very ready to go!– My angelic sister is tolerably well this morning, & says she wd be quite as glad to see Miss Bordman to day, as if I were going to dine with you—but this rests with you–
