My dear S Barrett

I was very glad to hear of your return but very sorry that I did not see [you] in your way to C. Hill– I have not heard from your father since you left but as I understand you are to be stationed at C. Hill & to have the management of the property under Mr Carey I think you should at once take charge as I consider it important that the system which is to be adopted under the great change which has taken place should be begun under him who is to carry it into effect– The change of management should now be very rare, & I should imagine that you are likely to have much more influence with the people than one wholly unconnected with the profits– I shall be anxious to hear from you how yesterday passed off & what arrangements you may have been able to make for the future working of the estate– Lady R has told you all the news & therefore I conclude–
