My dear Sir,

Being about to negotiate with the Island Curate of Westmoreland for an exchange of curacies I am anxious to obtain all the information I can collect re<gard>ing the d<istr>ict in which he officiates, which is I understand in the Darliston Mountains.

As you once resided in that neighbourhood, perhaps you will be able to tell me whether there is any house in that part of the parish that would be likely to Suit me. The probable rent. What sort of roads there are, whether my 4 Wheel could be used, whether it would be worth while to take the furniture I have with me. What sort of climate it is. What the distance is from Savanna La Mar to the district of the Island Curate—and whether going to that port by sea would be the <best> way of <going> down– and in fact any other information you can give me–

I was sorry we did not see you on your way through town. I am much obliged for your having procured the leads for my pencil case– They fit exactly. You have however omitted to tell me what I am indebted to you for them– I trust the next post will being us more favorable accounts of your people, <…> they have all cheerfully returned [to] their work again–
