KNOW ALL MEN, by these Presents, That I Edward Barrett Moulton Barrett of Wimpole Street in the County of Middlesex the Executor named and appointed in and by the last Will and Testament of Samuel Barrett Moulton Barrett late of Cinnamon Hill Estate in the Island of Jamaica deceased the lawful owner of Eight Sixty fourth Shares of the Ship or Vessel called the David Lyon hereinafter described, for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five Shillings of lawful Money of Great Britain, to me in Hand, at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents, by Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett of Wimpole Street aforesaid Spinster well and truly paid, the Receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge and myself to be therewith fully satisfied, HAVE granted, bargained, sold, assigned, and set over; and by these Presents DO fully, freely, and absolutely grant, bargain, sell, assign, and set over, unto the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors Administrators and Assigns Eight Sixty fourth parts or shares of and in all that the Ship or Vessel called the “David Lyon” now lying in the Port of London the description and particulars whereof are specified and continued in the hereinafter recited Certificate of Registry together with eight-Sixty fourth parts or shares of and in all and singular the Masts, Sails, Sail-Yards, Anchors, Cables, Ropes, Cords, Guns, Gunpowder, Ammunition, Small Arms, Tackle, Apparel, Boats, Oars, and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said Ship or Vessel belonging, or in anywise appertaining; which said Ship or Vessel has been duly registered pursuant to an Act of Parliament for that Purpose, and a copy of the Certificate of such Registry is as follows:

CERTIFICATE OF BRITISH REGISTRY

This is to certify, That in Pursuance of an Act passed in the Sixth Year of the Reign of King George the Fourth intituled, “An Act for the registering of British Vessels.” George Adams Davis of Saint Helens place in the city of London Merchant[,] James Selby of Mount place Mile End road Mariner[,] and Charles Matthias Sughrue of Stepney Green Ship Owner both in the County of Middlesex having taken and subscribed the Oath required by the said Act, and having sworn that they together with Samuel Boddington of Saint Helens Place in the City of London merchant and Edward Moulton Barrett of Hope End in the County of Hereford Esquire are sole Owners (in the proportions specified on the back hereof) of the Ship or Vessel called the David Lyon of London which is of the burthen of Four hundred seventy six 17/94 Tons, and whereof James Selby is Master, and that the said Ship or Vessel was built at Ipswich in the County of Suffolk in the year one thousand eight hundred and nineteen as appears by a Certificate of Registry granted at London 18th March 1830 No 57 now delivered up and cancelled and I N. Robilliard the Surveying Officer having certified to us, that the said Ship or Vessel, has two Decks and Three Masts that her Length, from the Fore-Part of the Main Stem to the After-Part of the Stern-Post aloft, is One hundred and twenty feet eight inches her Breadth at the broadest Part taken below the Main Wales is, Twenty nine feet nine inches her height between Decks is Five feet ten inches that she is Square rigged with a Standing Bowsprit, is Square Sterned, Carvel Built, has Quarter Galleries and a man Bust Figure Head; and the said subscribing owners having consented and agreed to the above Description and having caused sufficient Security to be given, as is required by the said Act, the said Ship or Vessel, called the David Lyon has been duly registered at the Port of London.

Certified under our Hands, at the Custom House in the said Port of London this Twentieth Day of October in the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty One[.]

To have and to hold the said Eight Sixty fourth parts or shares of the said Ship or vessel and all other the above bargained Premises, unto the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors, Administrators and Assigns, to her and their own Use and Uses, and as her and their own proper Goods and Chattels, from henceforth for ever. And I the said Edward Barrett Moulton Barrett do hereby, for myself my Executors and Administrators, covenant, promise, and agree, to and with the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, in Manner following: That is to say, that, at the Time of the Ensealing and Delivery hereof, I have in myself good Right, full Power, and lawful Authority, to grant, bargain, sell assign, and set over, the said hereby-bargained Premises unto the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, in Manner and Form aforesaid: And that the said hereby-bargained Premises, and every Part thereof, now are, and so from henceforth for ever, shall be, remain, and continue unto the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, free and clear, and freely and clearly acquitted and discharged of and from all former Bargains, Sales, Gifts, Grants, Title, Debts, Charges, and Incumbrances whatsoever And further that I the said Edward Barrett Moulton Barrett my Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, make, do and execute, or cause, or procure to be made, done, and executed, all and every such further and other lawful and reasonable Act and Acts, Deed and Deeds, Devices, Conveyances, and Assurances in the Law whatsoever, for the further, better, and more effectually conveying, assigning, and assuring, the hereby-bargained Premises, or any Part thereof, unto the said Elizabeth Barrett Moulton Barrett her Executors, Administrators or Assigns, as by her, them, any, or either of them; or by her, their, any, or either of the Counsel in the Law shall be reasonably devised, advised, or required.
