Dear Sir

I am very desirous of Knowing the mind of E. M. Barrett Esqr relative to my continued occupation of the house in which I reside. If you be in possession of his views on the Subject I should feel much obliged by your making me acquainted with them–

When Mr Farq[u]harson took charge of this estate after the demise of the late Hon S. M. Barrett I communicated with him on the Subject & offered to pay a moderate rent to the estate for the place. He promised to forward my proposals to Mr Barrett and I learned from him afterward that Mr Barrett intended to write to me himself about it, but I have not as yet got any reply from him.

The House needs repair, and the pasture requires to be cleared, and various arrangements should be made according to whether I am to remain or to remove. You will therefore confer a favour if you can inform me whether of the two is most likely to be the case.
