Dear Sir.

I am favored with your letter of 21st Instant apprising me of your arrival from England with a power of Attorney from your Uncle Mr John Graham Clarke to act in his affairs in the event of Mr Atkinson’s declining to do so.

You also mention that you have a letter from Mr Clarke to the manager of his properties Mr Hutton directing him to allow you to look at them, and you are kind enough to say you, are unwilling to present the letter without my sanction. I cannot have the least objection to your visiting Whitehall and Mount Tirzah, and I am sure Mr Hutton will be most happy to show you them, whenever it suits your convenience to go to Westmoreland. I would suggest the propriety of your writing that Gentleman inclosing Mr Clarke’s letters, and fixing a day to meet him at Whitehall[.]
