Dear Sir

We have been expecting for sometime to have had the pleasure of hearing from you: we presume however that the registrations for final compromise and settlement of the suit Barrett V Barrett have been completed, and that what remains is to close the whole by an order for the Retreat and Cinnamon Hill compensation monies. [Illegible word] we take the liberty of sending your account to our firm for last year balanced by £134.1.3 in our favor. On looking them over however we do not think it quite right that you should be charged with more than clerks fees for the second copy of the proceedings in Barrett v Barrett which Mr |Markess| delay in delivery of the parcel rendered necessary. We reckon the actual cost to us at about £8.3.4—we therefore deduct what remains viz £25.

The account will therefore stand thus.

equal at the present rate of Excheqe to £114.7.7 Sterling; which we shall feel obliged by your paying to our late partner Mr J W Whetstone who is now resident at Catharine Place Bristol. We have heard of the arrival of your son Mr S M Barrett of which we are very glad; we have not yet had the pleasure of seeing him.
