My dear S. Barrett.

It rained so heavily on Saturday last that I could not send a check into Town to pay for your commission but I do so to day and it will be sent to your [illegible word] tomorrow– The charges altogether are £15.10 for which I have sent a ch<eck> in your favor– I should recommend you to qualify as soon as you can. A very old friend of mine Mr Dawson a stipendiary Magistrate has been ordered to Trelawney in the room of Mr Lyon, you will find him a most excellent man and a good Magistrate and I shall be obliged by your shewing him any attention—and be so good as to mention him to your cousin—he has been at Savanna La Mar for some time. I do not think we shall have the new Governor for some days as he was not to sail ’til the 7 Augt with calls at Madéira & Barbados–

Lady Rowe is getting stronger daily—shall we see you in Spa: Town during the Assises–?
