My dear Barrett

I am obliged to leave town today for the Sessions & shall not be back for a fortnight. I am disappointed in not having had a meeting with you & Sam last week which was my only leisure week. I had requested my brother to appoint you both to accompany him here yesterday at 12 oClock—but he says you did not come to drive with him the day before as he expected & it was not in his power to see you. I hope Sam will not leave town (unless he means to return again shortly) before I come back– This business with me may be settled in an hour–

The balance which I make due to you is 2291l including the bills sent up by Clarke & the balance from Plummer Barham & Plummer– Pray send me a line any time between this & Wednesday addressed to me at Preston Lancashire to say whether you will have the whole or what part of this sum paid to BPS Co or transferred to your account at your bankers. It is the same to me which ever you prefer. I believe the whole of the remittance from Clarke falls due by this time–
