Dear Sir.
I came here just after you left for Retreat & am sorry I had not the pleasure of seeing you. Mr Samuels would tell you that I had sold all the planters Stock to Mrs McKenzie upon the same terms as those disposed of to the Lottery– So that you will have to buy for the Estates in St. Elizabeth– Should you pass thro’ Westmorland I shall be happy to see you. Some packet letters have been sent on to Sav la Mar for me, & I think it likely there may be a Letter from your Father, & if so I will write you on my return. Had I found you at home I intended to have passed the day with you.
I shall be up again in a few Weeks how[ev]er. I have supplied Samuels with £30 & he is to send to the local Bank to day for £35 more in Silver & small cheques. This, I fancy will be sufficient to pay the people till I come up– Should you not go to St. Elizabeth till next Month, I hope to see you before you leave– I remain
