My dear Mr Barrett

I have often thought since I have been here of writing to you, to remind you of your duty to your relations But Sam till today has always written to you |alway| for me– We have now had one fall & you have never made your debut I must beg & command your presence for the two following Thursdays there are balls for both nights and it is absolutely necessary I should have one respectable gentleman—such as they are I have more than |McGuire| but without [illegible words] Sam come I am sure you will be highly gratified. The gaiety here is killing me there are four dinner parties a week besides balls & calling’s I have been introduced to many nice people The Bishops & Mrs. [illegible word] for instance, we have been staying two days with and like them much– The Rowes are very kind & hospitable we are constantly there[–]

With a repeated request that you will attend to my summons I remain yours sincerely.
