My dear S. Barrett.
I have spoken to the Governor’s Secretary about the Africans for you and he says the application must be made to Mr Lambert who is now at Montego Bay for the purpose of placing them out—but I suppose you have seen him before this and learnt from him all particulars– I think you are right to try the refinement and I hope it may succeed—and that you will be able to report favorably of them in March when we hope expect to be at Cinnamon Hill– The House will adjourn to day ’till the 3 Monday in March when I hope to be [illegible word] from M. Bay I wish you could find a comfortable lodging there for me—the misery I endure there is scarcely bearable– It is fortunate for the Islands that the Session this Winter has passed off so well, and I sincerely trust we shall have no more squabblings– Your cousin is looking very unwell and the sooner he is out of this place the better for him—he talks of returning to Greenwood soon after Xmas–
