My dear Sam
The House is adjourned till March the 17th by a very gracious message from Sir Charles– I intend to start for the North side the end of next week, Maria contemplates with your permission spending a few days at Retreat on her way, to recover from her Spa Town dissipation. I wish you could meet us there the middle of the week after next say Wednesday week. I wish you to visit Thatchfd & take the management of it. Will you be kind enough to look after the Africans I have requested to have & distribute them as you please I shall leave it to you to order them the same provisions as you intend to give your own I think with you I shall experience much trouble with them at first but hope ultimately to succeed with them particularly at H[ardin]g Hall where no Strangers are to be had at any price[.]
I have not forgot your sheep & have purchased 2 rams from the best pen in Salt Pond they charge 2 doubloons a piece for them I will get them down as far as Retreat– Many thanks for your cocoa nut plants you have more of the Gentleman in you than I thought[.]
I have been again in bed with Fever.
