From the tone of your reply to Mr Barretts application for the continued damage done his walls for a long time past he begs to advise you that he will from this date adhere strictly to all the provisions of the lease & hold you immediately responsible for any encroachments on them. He will also give orders that all goats found trespassing on the walls or the property, shall be immediately shot & wishes to know whether his continued applications to you for repairs of the Wharf gate are to be attended to– He also advises you that in consequence of the non payment of the rent at the deputed time you have subjected yourself to the forfeiture of the lease & if payment be not immediately made, ulterior proceedings will be resorted to– He much regrets having to resort to such harsh measures but you must be aware that all Mr Barretts personal applications to yourself have met with no attention
