My dear Sir
I have a communication from Mr Kemble enclosing Copy of a Correspondence between him and you on the subject of the Chancery Suit which has pained me a good deal, and which appears to have resulted in our losing you as a client.
I need not say how much I regret this on many accounts. The absence of Mr Middleton and myself at the time was peculiarly unfortunate. I trust however there is not the least design of loss, the arrangement having been completed by deeds, which required only to be carried into effect by an order of Court in the Suit at least I suppose so, for I had not seen the deeds, before I left Jamaica. But I quite appreciate & sympathise in your strong feelings of disappointment.
I can only add that if my knowledge of the suit can be of use to any one whom you may employ to close it I shall be glad to afford it—and at any rate I trust that the friendship which has subsisted betwixt you & myself personally, and which to me has been a source of much pleasure & satisfaction, may not necessarily be interrupted.
I am now making my arrangements for returning to Jamaica, & expect to sail about the end of next month. I am leaving two of my children in this country, & taking out an Infant.
