Addendum to The Brownings’ Correspondence, vol. 5.

My dear Sir,

I sent last week by Mr Cubitt the builder, a piece of the statue of Napoleon at present in the columns of the Place Vendome. It was given me by Mr Crozatin the founder to whom I had mentioned your Museum—he having shewn me one which he uses as a presse-papier.

As Mr Cubitt is a very exact person, I have no doubt he has delivered it by this time– The statue was erected 28 July 1833—and the orifice through which the metal was poured in the casting, left a kind of neck, which has been cut into about ½ a dozen pieces similar to what I have sent you–

I have heard nothing more from Mr Charon, but will call on him to remind him of the autographs—for some weeks I have |been| very much engaged or I would have written sooner–
