My dear Mrs Kinney,

This time you shall hear from me, not that I can hope to tell ought new or entertaining, but that I may put myself ‘en raport’ with so good a friend as yourself for I shall depend upon a prompt answer. … On Tuesday, through a letter from Mr Browning, I am to go to the poet Rogers’s—my object is to see his house & pictures as a man of 93, poet though he may be, cannot in himself be particularly attractive. His breakfasts are at an end. … Hume promises me all in his power for my gratification. After having had him in “circle”—I will write Mrs Browning the result, who will I am sure tell you all, if there be anything worth relating. …
