As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 32, 345.

[London]

Monday 12th [February 1866]

Anniversary of the Birthday of the Bp of St Davids yesterday. We kept it today by the usual dinner party of eleven friends & eleven dishes. There were present Himself, our three selves [Alicia Bayne, William Thirlwall Bayne, and Isabella Bayne], the Dean of Westminster (Stanley), Ld Houghton, Annie and Minnie Thackeray, Mrs Procter and Robt Browning. It went off better than ever. The Dean told some capital stories & Ld H was witty and jovial.
