… The health of Mrs Browning has rendered it necessary to spend the winter in London [sic, for Rome]. Her absence and her husband’s grieves me sadly. They do not return before May. Two months ago I requested Mr Forster to procure from Moxon the two last volumes of mine, and forward them. He has not taken the trouble. This is vexatious and detrimental to me, because Mr Field[s], a principal American publisher, is coming to Florence; and I have promised him copies of all my Works revised by me. Browning wrote several letters, week after week, for my plate (only that I brought with me from England) and books. They were promised—part came. …
