I trouble you with the enclosed dearest Mrs Anderdon, because I am so stupid as to have forgotten the number at Harley Place Clifton where your dear & precious daughter now is—& I leave my poor scrawl open because I think you will like to see the pretty way in which dear Miss Barrett speaks of one who resembles her in all but happiness & health. I forgot to add in my letter to sweet Mrs Partridge that Miss Barrett was actually on the point of taking an airing in a Bath chair before the door, & that the spitting of blood which more or less had beset her every night for above four years had now for several days ceased.– Oh if advantage had but been taken of this favorable summer to get her into the air—into real country air! But that is too late now—next year if she be equally well, & if I can command only the few hours needed to see Mr Barrett in London I will try my influence with him. …
