SD1196.  Elizabeth J. Reid to Henry Crabb Robinson

As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 8, 333 (in part).

York Terrace, R P.

Decr 25th [1843]

Dear Mr Robinson

I must trouble you in the midst of your round of friendly enjoyments, with a line on two subjects,—First—Pray be kind enough to contradict, where necessary, the supposition of the dedication to “the Book” being intended for Miss Barrett. H.M. is really vexed that she has been so misunderstood & I have it under her own hand that quite another person is addressed by her.

Yours very truly

E. J. Reid

Docket, in unidentified hand: 25 Dec. 1843 / Mrs Reid.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Dr. Williams’s Library.
