Dear Sir

The above are the two letters to which I referred, yours was written at the foot of the order for the money, which was torn off & forwarded to you in Mr Moore’s letter– You will observe that a remark is made respecting a portion of the Legacy remaining unpaid, which I believe is £1000– I think Mr G. Clarkes old confidential Clerk Mr Samuel—I really just now forget his name, altho a very old acquaintance of mine, but I may recall his name to you by stating that he bought the property on the River Side left to Mr Js C. I think, that he may remember something the late Mr Baker said to him on the subject, for when I was in Newcastle in 1839, he indicated as much to me–

I hope that you will be enabled to ascertain what became of the letter of Novr 17th & specially its enclosure
