SD1375.1. Diary Entry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Addendum to The Brownings’ Correspondence, vol. 15.
[Cambridge, Mass.]
8 May 1849
Saw the first blossoms of the cherry-trees on the sunny side of the street. Bought Shelley and Browning, in new and handsome editions. Fanny read to me the first part, “Paracelsus Aspires,”—the scene in the Wurtzburg garden. Very lofty, but rather diffuse. It ends finely.
