1158.5.  James Whitehorne to Edward Moulton-Barrett (father)

Addendum to The Brownings’ Correspondence, vol. 5.

Portobello

Or 27. 1841

Sir

I have to acknowledge & to thank you for the payment through Drewett & Fowler’s bank of £104.7.11 on account of Anderson & Kemble.

A slight mistake has occurred in the Sum, which both Mr Anderson & yourself, in letters dated the 9th of Octr, stated to be £104.11.7. making a difference of 3/8 still due. I am afraid that I have been inadvertantly the cause of it, as I wrote to you from Edinburgh without having the letters before me, & I think I transposed the figures. The account however, which is with you, would be the guide for the payment. Will you be kind enough to pay the difference to Drewett & Fowler?

I am, Sir,

your obdt St

James Whitehorne

Docket: Decemer 3. 1841. / Pd as directed above 3s/8 EMB.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.
