Saturday 29 May [1858]

… I went out this evening at 8 o’clock with Mrs. de Schmid to spend the evening at Miss Blagden’s at Villa Brichieri. There were several people there among others Mr. Browning with whom I spoke at length. He even made me promise to go pay a visit to Mrs. Browning on Monday, desiring me to meet her. Then I made a date with Miss Blagden [to accompany me]. Came home at midnight.
