… Browning has come back from Italy full of Venice, Rome, Naples, & enthusiasm, with restored health, increased spirits & I hope a successful poem or two in |pelto|. He dined with me only yesterday with our neighbour h. f. chorley (annual, Athenaeum, Review, novel & opera writer, also a very pleasant clever fellow)—There was much talk of you. By the bye Browning like a good fellow as he is got me to write an article on Rabelais for the New Quarterly which they tell me is liked & which (so like him is it not?) he insisted on sending to you. …
