I have to apologise for allowing your letter to remain so long unanswered; & I beg to assure you that my silence arose not from any want of respect to you, or indisposition to consult the wishes & the convenience of the Inhabitants of Falmouth, of whom you were the [illegible word] to make the application to permit the erection of a loading Pier on the beach in the Port of your Town– My difficulty has been, & hence the delay in my reply, what site would be most advisable, as well with reference to the accommodation required, as to my interest in the land & premises adjoining: for this purpose I wished to consult Persons well acquainted with the locality, some I have today seen, but there is a gentleman, not now in London, but will then be shortly, whom I also desire to get an opinion from, when I will lose no time in communicating my views on the subject, which I trust will be considered satisfactory to all Parties–
I propose also to write by this Packet to my attorney Mr Roberts respecting the application, whose opinion it is desirable for me to obtain[.]
