My dear Uncle

I am delighted to find that you are not disappointed in the Picture; it is a treble satisfaction to me, you are pleased, Uncle Walter’s favorite Picture is not lost, & Mr Browning is relieved of a rather troublesome charge. I hope it will afford you some amusement during the winter: surely no man ever was so fortunate in obtaining so valuable a collection at so small a cost: when you realize the 1500 Guineas or pounds by this Picture, I hope you will think that I am entitled to a small percentage. No doubt you have heard from Mr Browning that he intended to indemnify himself from the fund still in his hands; the residue of which, a very handsome sum, will now be handed over to Mme Romagnoli. …
