Hon Sir
I am now Under the necessity of Addressing you these few lines on Account of your Attorney in Jamaica being obliged to sell the Land near the Church that your Grandfather gave me for Myself and Children for the service done to the Estates by my Late Father Mr Quick also by my late Mother Comfort Moore[.] On account that the Parish wanted it for to make the Church Yard Larger[.] When Your Father was alive he promised to send the Carpenters & Masons from the Estates to Build on the Lot of Land given by his Father A House for me & knowing well what my Father & Mother had done in their Life time– Also when your Brother was going to Kingston just before his death I had the honour of speaking to him then and at the same time he was good enough to say that he would immediately on his return from Kingston he would pick out a Piece of Land himself to make me amends for the Lot sold to the Parish. As he well Knew respecting Myself and family and also told me that me & my family should not loose [sic] by it but be a gainer by the Acting wrong in Selling the Land– Now my good & worthy Young friend—I am now Under the necessity of addressing you on the same Subject. Beg[g]ing of you to take our Case into consideration–
And do the same for us As your worthy Brother promised me to do for Myself and family And direct & order your Attorney to select A Lot of Land for the One that your Grandfather alloted [sic] out for me and my family[.] Sincerely hoping that you are enjoying That Great blessing Good Health
