My dear Sir
I Sincerely trust you will excuse my thus troubling you, but as I understand Mr McDonagh has left your Wharf at Falmouth I beg to solicit your Kindness (should you have not already made up your mind) in favor of Mr Charles Atterbury of the town of Falmouth my Son in Law a Young Man of the most unblemished reputation now clerk to a most reputable mercantile house in Falmouth Messrs Ennis & |Cactin|. He has had very great experience & could offer full testimonials to Mr Roberts, I understand the latter Gentleman has appointed a Mr Dawes as a locum tenens–
Now having done with the above in which I sincerely trust you will pardon me, I take the opportunity of congratulating you on the finest Season Jamaica has experienced for a quarter of a century & I have great pleasure in adding that I have Seen Jump & Roberts & they are both expecting to do well, I sincerely trust God in his Divine Wisdom may give you abundance, My little |darling| property is thriving and I satisfied with my purchase, I should be glad to buy another like it, You will have heard of our numerous & well attended remonstrances the length & breadth of the Land. May it have some effect on the Ministry there is however this consolation We cannot be worse, Therefore any change will prove beneficial with every sincere good wish
