Mr McDonagh having mentioned on the arrival of the Packet that he had received a letter from you and his intention of resigning the management of the Wharf on the 1st January ensuing, and the appointment protem would then be made by your Attorney Mr Roberts, to a Mr Dawes, who was some months assisting McDonagh but left him last August– As Mr Roberts waits further instructions from you, I now beg to offer that should you feel disposed to assist and [sic] Old and tried tenant in the management of the Wharf on your behalf that I should be glad in doing so. I flatter myself in stating that for the 19 years service on that Wharf during the whole of that time secured the interest of Two thirds of the merchants with not less than 20 Estates– Should the appointment be made to me my interest and best exertion will not be wanting on your behalf and if at any time hereafter you should feel disposed to Lease I may make further arrangement for the same
