My very dear friend– I cannot let even one post go without answering your dear affectionate letter– …
By the way Mrs Browning is to be confined in February. She always speaks of her husband rapturously—but I cannot forgive him for not working (I mean by that word writing paying literature) to supply to her some of the comforts that she forfeited for him, but living upon his wife in contented idleness just as he before did upon his father.
Address: Mrs Partridge / Horsenden House / Princes Bisbro’ / Bucks.
Publication: Chorley, I, 251–255 (in part as 2 November 1849).
Manuscript: Yale University.
