My Dear Mother

I have this Evening received the following letter from George. (which I enclose you.) you will find that Edward’s wound is me[re]ly that of the Flesh and of no consequence– You may rejoice at your Soldier having distinguished himself so greatly and bearing a scar of honour– All anxiety in respect to the Heroes may now cease and end being put to all hostilities with the French, and their Speedy return may be expected.

We shall leave here about Monday next for London. The Baron intends g[iv]ing you the College Hornpipe all our loves
