I see Mr and Mrs Browning often, but Mrs B. will not be able to go out any more, being again enceinte, their baby is surpassingly pretty. Our intercourse as yet has not amounted to much, being taken too much in snatches. She seems to me just as you described her. Mr B. is entertaining, very cordial in his manner, but my intercourse with him I find singularly external. I know not that I ever had such with any person of substance. They speak of you both with very great partiality (let not that word read as equivoque) and desire to be commended unto you. …
