Dr Madam
Our present situation, occasioned by the Rebellion of the Maroons, prevents my saying very little, all work are neglected of course the Estates must suffer several gentn of this Parish fell in the Action of the 12th Inst among them poor Jarvis Gallimore and my ever to be lamented Friend Job Dale. I thank God in having excaped without a wound—several of the Maroons are slain, their Towers, taken and they driven into the Woods, into which several parties of armed Men have gone, in expectateds [sic] of Destroying them, which will put us into the greatest Security: I have sent you Bills for four Hundd pounds Sgr and when my Mind is settled and our Estates safe I will make every reasonable allowance for my Brokers little Folks– Your son Tom wishes to have the management of his late Father’s Estates. I beg that my possessing of them—should be of no obstacle, I have no Int of my own to serve and am anxious to be of benefit to all my Relations and to promote their views without |provoking| them.
