My dearest Henrietta,
I promised to write to you and as Arabel wished to send Mrs Hedley’s letter I have taken this opportunity of doing so–
I came to Wimpole St. on Monday and was glad to hear all went off so well pray accept my congratulations upon your marriage and a thousand wishes for your happiness. Dearest Henrietta every thing seems so strange without you but selfish indeed would it be of me to wish you back again, however the time will soon come when Ba will come to Town & then we may expect too see you & looking so well to such roses in your cheeks. Miss Sykes was enchanted at receiving your wedding card and no doubt would have sent you her love if she had known that I was going to write to you. I met Miss Minto yesterday who told me that you were singing “Jubilate” all day long, meaning that you were so full of happiness. Now do not let the said happiness engross your time so much as to prevent my hearing from you or else I shall be inclined to quarrel with your good genius Captain Cook, & now good bye dearest Henrietta with my best love to you

Dearest Hentta Since Lizzie wrote this note, this letter from Ba has come. She seems to be almost distracted, & talks a great deal of nonsense about me—but I send the letter to you as I know you would not be satisfied. Henry Trant desires me to give you his love & congratulations. I shall write to Ba tomorrow to calm her a little. Love to Surtees.

The two lines I have scratched out in Ba’s letter were only expressions of regret that Lizzie should have any thing to do with the marriage, which I thought would be better not to show to any here. Send back my letter.
