… On Sunday I went to Wimbledon & dined with Kenyon who has built himself a house very near the residence of Horne Tooke of which we used to hear so much 10 years ago– With him was on a visit Walter Savage Landor—we are on pleasant terms again– And have agreed to forget our affair a few years ago– When we quarrelled on account of his ill treatment of Wordsworth– There dined with us one of the modern poetical geniuses whom I am not up to—that is Browning the husband of Miss Barrett also a poet of the class of the unintelligible– And also Barry Cornwall a poet of less pretension– And a very amiable man– Do not take to heart that these worthies are unknown to you even by name– Three fourths of the reading public will console you by saying so much the better– I dont say so– …
