My dear Friend,

Have you not a beautiful 18th February at Swallowfield? It is beautiful even here—and just as I am starting for a drive to Wimbledon comes a letter from Dear Ba enclosing this to you.

She “heaps coals of fire on my head,” for I have been very remiss in writing to her. In a couple of days—or three, I hope to do so—or rather will do so—and if you had two lines to send me to enclose to her—it would add I don’t know how much to the value of my missive. So I hope that you will send me two lines. …
