I suppose you know Miss Minto is going to be married to a Mr Ruxton– She wrote to me to ask if Mr De Soyres was coming to Town and if he would marry them—but he declined doing it—as he says he has not been regularly ordained to the N.C. ministry though he preaches– He is to be in Town this week to a meeting of the Swedenborg Association, & I rather hoped to see him before writing to you– I believe the Brownings are coming or came to England. I hope you met them– She is also a friend of Miss Minto’s, who thinks her decidedly inclined to the doctrines– I am always much interested in hearing of those whom you mention as receiving the Doctrines also in Me Ambelard’s visions–
By the bye Miss Minto gave me a message to you which was that she much wished to know, in detail all she had seen relative to your daughter’s marriage– When you write perhaps you will tell me them more particularly– I always think there is a strong bias to Romanism in what she sees– The ceremonies of that Church appear to be in her mind– You also puzzle me about that great Personage X—who is destined to wear a crown—who can he be?– I confess I am more anxious to see the Doctrines confessed by some leading Spirits of the age in intellect—and therefore the Brownings would be great lights in the Church–
I have at last been introduced to Lord Stanhope, and have sent to him a Chrystal Ball belonging to Mr Auldjo, of Noel House. He has promised to let me know the result of his Seer’s observations. …
